Nice design - ebay search results

I think this design is pretty new, or it just caught my eye this time. Nevertheless, I dig it.

I typed in “blackberry curve unlocked” into the main search field and on top of the results this navigation appeared. It’s impressive that they were able to accurately categorize the individual words I typed into the search field, although I’d be curious how this scales or if it works at all given an obscure query.

It added a level of “system explanation” for the user by adding the categories to the keywords so they can make changes if they so desire. The nice big X’s are also nice in case the user has too few results. I also find the boxes to be visually pleasing for some reason. They actually make me want to click the X to make one go away, not sure why though.

My only negative comment is that clicking on an X to make a keyword go away causes an entire page reload. Uh…ebay, have you been ignoring the whole ajax trend?
