Knack.Me
2011
Entrepreneurship, Design
This is the concept work for my startup called Knack.Me
  • This was my startup for 6 months. I met with VC's, sought technical co-founders, worked on a business plan, and started to work with a engineering firm to build out my idea. I wanted to build a crowd sourced tagging system for professionals. One that both gave users an interesting look at their skills as well as gave them insights for areas of development. I put the project on the shelf to join Zvents but haven't lost hope.
  • This is the logged out homepage screen where the service is pitched and hopefully understood by visitors.
  • This "hot or not" style game was a method for applying tags to your network. More importantly, it would naturally lead you to whom you thought was the most "n", n being a personal attribute for such as creative.
  • This is the users profile where you can see their tag and how strong they are. You could also add tags to yourself but they wouldn't show up externally until they were confirmed by other users .Tags also were weighted and I worked on an interesting tag scoring algorithm.
  • In addition to people being taggable so were companies. This would give someone a quick overview of the strengths, weaknesses, and common characteristics of a company - all user driven of course.
  • Users have connections and the view into that connections list would also allow them to see their most creative contacts or all of their contacts they tagged with leadership for example. At a high level I thought of this as giving the user ways to access different sections of their contacts for different reasons.
  • This screen shows my monetization strategy I was heading towards. Recruiting and networking. This tool allowed users to search for people that match exact criteria using the tags and tag weights. When I set out I wanted to see if I could answer this simple question: "who is the top javascript engineer in the silicon valley?"
