The Tie Dipped Belt.

Take an old tie cut off the tip.
Cut the belt end to match the angles of the tie
Stuff the belt into the tie
Use some other fabric to cover up the edge of the tie - I used a a nylon strap from a backpack.
Sew er’ up.

Pure Snazz.

Facebook is NOT the most innovative company.

Just got my Fast Company magazine in the mail and Mr. Zuckerberg was staring back at me. Great, super, way to start my day. I got no beef with the guy other than being tired of looking at him. I do however take some offense the Fast Company’s claim that his company is the most innovative one in the…what…world? Come on now.

The iPad shipped today and Apple has completely rethought the notion of the tablet computer, touch screen computing, and portable devices. Surely that’s more innovative than sharing photos and text on a website, right?

Facebook’s growth is amazing and impressive but I give the credit for that to the market and the nature of tipping points, not to their innovation. Kudo’s for focusing on localization to grow your company, how truly innovative (note sarcasm).

How about Hulu, Netflix, Apple, et al for trying to change the way people consume rich media? Showing the world that being tied to a cable company isn’t the only way to enjoy entertainment in your home. (PS, screw you cable companies, you’re filled with more suck than I have time to comment on right now).

I could go on with mobile phone manufacturers, battery companies, bio-tech, and companies focusing on green technologies but why when I can be thankful that I know what my high school friends kids are doing on a Saturday afternoon. Thanks Facebook, thanks for that.

Yay! Saturday morning rants are fun! ;-) If you are offended by any of these remarks, don’t take yourself or me that seriously. I could spend an afternoon researching all my partially formed thoughts (PFT’s) or I can just spew them out in 10 minutes in hopes of making one reader laugh or think of them as slightly interesting.

Whoa, what’s this?

What’s this dang blog thing? huh. Guess I got lazy and was sticking to 140characters lately. I’ll see if I can drum up a bit more to write about. I do enjoy it.

Also related to my lack of posting was the fact that I’ve been buried in a conference room with three of the best engineers I’ve gotten to work with. We birthed Xobni for BlackBerry and the Xobni One service. Now that it’s launched I hope I have a wee bit of time to do things I enjoy, like ride my bike, take pictures, and maybe blog a little ;-).
